Animal.

Just a simple outfit for a Lunar New Year lunch with the family. (Can time just stand still for a sec? Lol.) Was supposed to have a fitting today too for our entourage dresses but that's been postponed.

Wishing you guys an advanced Happy Chinese New Year! Don't forget to eat your rice cakes so luck will "stick"to you for the whole year! Lol. I've already had mine. Happiness and unicorns and just all the luck in the world for everyone! Prepare the fireworks!

Love this gold spiked cross necklace!

PS. Rihanna's "We Found Love" is currently stuck in my head.

High Cut.

I always find my process of choosing photos to upload amusing. Choose the least awkward ones. But then again, they're all so awkward. Lol. So it's pretty hard.

I so love this cape jacket. It's pretty hard finding one that I can actually wear in this sometimes overheated weather. I don't know why I have an obsession for winter wear. They're just so chic! Okay, maybe that's the reason for the obsession. So it saddens me that I don't have that much chances of getting to wear them. (Which is why I don't like going to Hong Kong in December. So much pretty everywhere. Ah, who am I kidding? I love going to HK always. Lol.)

I love my new somewhat bangs.

Singapore, 16 Jan 2012 — Come 1 February 2012, Glam Asia will be officially launching Asia’s Top Glam Bloggers, a region-wide competition that aims to find talented and passionate fashion, beauty, lifestyle bloggers — existing or aspiring — from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, The Philippines, Hong Kong, China and Thailand.

The competition seeks participants who are passionate about fashion, beauty and lifestyle, boasts a unique flair for writing for a savvy and sophisticated audience, has sound opinions on the subject(s), and knows exactly what it takes to keep readers on the edge of their seats.
Winners of the competition stand to win a contract to be one of Glam Asia’s resident or partner bloggers, offering them a unique opportunity to reach out to a wide audience of as many as 250 million from the global Glam Media network. In addition, there are also fabulous prizes to be won —including luxury resort stays for the two top winners of the competition.

The search for Asia’s Top Glam Bloggers is open to (1) Established Bloggers, whose blogs are at least one year old and active; and (2) New & Aspiring Bloggers, who may or may not have an existing blog, but would love to make a name for themselves in the fashion blogosphere in the region. (Those without an existing blog are required to create one to be eligible for the contest.)

“One of the main objectives of this competition is to find and gather quality bloggers under one roof here at Glam Asia as part of our efforts to discover blogging talents and, hopefully, help raise the standard of fashion blogging in this part of the world,” says Karman Tse, Editor of Glam Asia. “Through Asia’s Top Glam Bloggers, we also hope to give aspiring bloggers a solid kick-start, and who knows, pave their way to celebritydom,” she adds.

New Beginnings.

First post for the year 2012! Belated Happy New Year, everyone. But technically in the Chinese calendar, it's not quite the year of the dragon yet. Lol. Anyways, photos have been sitting in the computer for a while. Thankfully, have found the time to post them now.

Wishing for a great year ahead! Hoping to be more productive when it comes to this blog. Cross fingers!

Love the leather collar necklace which is a recent purchase. Bought a pair of cowboy boots recently too. Been looking for the perfect ones for a while. As per usual. Lol. Hoping for more new shoesies to come so they can take me to far off and pretty places. Yay.

Cheers to all!

PR for PEBA.

OFW remittances at an all-time high: social remittances as new currency from Global Pinoys

Remittances from Filipinos working overseas are at an all-time high. And no, it’s not just because they’re sending back US dollars, Saudi Riyals, Euros or Japanese Yen; but because our modern-day heroes are sending back what’s known as social remittances.

Social remittances refer to ideas, practices, identities and social capital that flow from receiving to sending country communities. It was coined by sociologist Peggy Levitt in her book “The Transnational Villagers and she describes social remittances being transferred by migrants and refugees that are exchanged by letters or other forms of communication that includes phone, fax, the internet or video. She suggested that social remittance affects family relations, gender roles, class and race identity, as well as have a substantial impact on political, economic and religious participation.

This concept isn’t something new for the Philippines. In the 1800s, this was already seen through the newspaper La Solidaridad and the novels of Jose Rizal. Like them whose ideas paved . In the 21st century, blogging is the new form of social remittance of Filipinos working and living abroad. Through their blogs they are publishing their stories online to inspire others. They also advocate for causes, help others and muster support from their readers to help effect change in their own little ways.

With globalization, Filipino migrants are beginning to realize the power of harnessing the potential of social remittance. They may be students pursuing a higher education, a professional with a white-collar job or a migrant working as house help; but all of them have something in common: an economic goal and aspiration.

This year the Pinoy Expat/OFW Blog Awards or PEBA 2011 is geared to recognize the contributions of Filipino bloggers abroad. This year’s theme is dubbed as "Ako'y Magbabalik, Hatid Ko'y Pagbabago." (I Will Return, I Will Bring Change) as Balikbayans not only send back their monetary remittances; but social remittances as well.

For this year PEBA opens a new blog search called PEBA’s Any Blogger, Anywhere for all Filipino bloggers in various categories, at home or abroad. This year’s blog contest will look into narratives as to how returning Expats/OFW will make use and share their social remittance or their talents, skills and fortunes to bring change to their families, communities and country. Expats/OFW bloggers who will be joining the contest will be required to write a blog entry on the said theme. There is also an ongoing blog contest for OFW supporters.

For 2011, VIPinoy, a service and perks for overseas Filipinos and OFWs offered by Ayala Malls is the biggest sponsor of PEBA. Ayala Mall is providing Trinoma Activity Center as the venue for the awards nights on December 9, 2011 and Market Market as venue for its photo exhibit from December 9, 2011. PEBA is equally supported by one of its long time partner NOKIA and communication giant Globe Telecom.

PEBA will exclusively invite some 200 guests who can make their reservation and confirmation/RSVP of their attendance through VIPinoy Lounges in the different Ayala Malls and the awarding will be watched by a thousand or more and will be telecast live for OFWs to watch.

Always loved the uniform look. Kinda making a comeback I think? Glad to have found this particular jacket last year. Haven't worn it for a while. A certain badass music video made me remember.
