The quest to find a good read that addresses the concerns of women readers who want information on areas that other fashion and beauty magazines tend to neglect is over.
ABS-CBN Publishing’s newest bi-monthly title Maven magazine, first released in April 2011, is the latest must-read dedicated to women aged 25-35, whose interests range the typical topics fashion and beauty magazines tackle, to social issues and health concerns no other magazine talks about. Living by the tagline “Homegrown, Real, and Glamorous,” Maven aims to highlight local models, discuss real issues that confront today’s women, and at the same time, maintain the natural fun and beauty of the Filipinas.
Maven magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Nana Caragay says that there are a lot of magazines out in the market that address all-out fashion or all-out sex. “And we thought that there has to be something that talks about fashion, beauty, life, sex, and all those other things that any well-rounded woman would like to know,” says Nana.
To commemorate the success of their first two issues whose covers featured Georgina Wilson and Bea Alonzo, a celebratory event was recently held at Opus Bar, Resorts World Manila. Some of the personalities who graced the celebration were Head of ABS CBN Publishing Ernie Lopez, makeup artist Jigs Mayuga, model Ornusa Cadness, model/TV host Kelly Misa, stylist Sidney Yap, and representatives from the media.
Georgina Wilson, who was on the cover of Maven’s debut issue, says she feels a connection to Maven because “Maven targets women like me who are in need of answers and who are excited about life. And I believe it’s going to be an exciting ride for Maven and it’s very flattering to be their first cover girl,” says Georgina.
“We want to make a difference in the magazine industry and the people behind Maven are working hard to deliver credible and relatable stories. This is why we chose Georgina Wilson as our first cover girl—because she represents what the magazine stands for: women who are smart, glamorous, and fun,” Nana says.

What's in a name?
Layer: From Seoul, Korea
Envelope Bag: From Seoul, Korea (Get the bag.)
Leggings: Mango
Shoes: From Korea
Have you ever had to repeat your name so many times and still they never get it? Unless you literally write it down. And they'd be like ooooh. Ever since I can remember I've had that dilemma when it comes to my name. I'm like "Sharnie". And they're like "Charlene", "Charmee"? "Shar-nie". Ah, "Sharie". I spell it out. S-H-A-R-N-I-E. Ahhhh, Sharmie. It never ends. Lol.Envelope Bag: From Seoul, Korea (Get the bag.)
Leggings: Mango
Shoes: From Korea
When I was little, I seriously wanted to change my name to something that won't elicit so much confusion. I'm like, "Don't you care enough to actually get my name right?". I was a paranoid kid. Wanted to change it to something like Alex or Joanna. I'm like, "Okay, why don't they get my name?" Lol. But then I've learned to like my name. Funny though, I never give it out anymore when I order from any coffee shop. They'll write Charlie, Sharley, etc. So I tell them to just put a letter "S" and they write it as "Es". Lol.
Love this little layer that I found! Anyways, I'm considering learning Korean. Self-studying. Let's see where it goes. I don't exactly have a lot of self-discipline. Lol. But I can read one word! First word I ever learned to read in Hangul. It's 바나나. Banana. Lol. Thanks to the banana milk craving we had last time.
Incoherent post.

Mischief Managed.
Sheer Top: From Seoul, Korea (Get the top.)
Shorts: From Seoul, Korea
Envelope Bag: From Seoul, Korea (Get the bag.)Wedges: Millie's
Hat: Dangerfield
Ring: Mango
Title is inspired by Harry Potter. Coz we went to watch Deathly Hallows Pt. 2! So I took inspiration from Harry Potter for this outfit too in a way. I was never a fan of the movies just cause I really love the books. When I grow up, I want to be J.K. Rowling. Lol. Nevertheless, I wouldn't miss the last epic journey into the wizarding world. Excuse the awkward expression.Shorts: From Seoul, Korea
Envelope Bag: From Seoul, Korea (Get the bag.)Wedges: Millie's
Hat: Dangerfield
Ring: Mango
I really started this outfit with the socks though. Dobby the Elf has an addiction to socks and even wondered why would socks match. Isn't it more fun to mix them up? The most random inspiration. Anyways, I love this loose sheer top from Seoul. I thought about wearing the cape-like layer/jacket I have at first but I was a little unsure coz of the heat in Manila these days. In the end, I decided to go with this sheer top; it's loose enough to have that same silhouette. The light material is just right for the weather. And of course the glasses as accessory. Harry Potter-esque? Only they're much bigger and I love them.

Shirt: Zara
Shorts: From Hong Kong (Get the shorts.)
Wedges: Millie's
Envelope Bag: From Seoul, Korea (Get the bag.)
Haiiii there! It's been a while for this blog once again. Haven't been feeling well the past days so I didn't have the energy to post anything! And it's got something to do with this thing called laziness too. Lol.Shorts: From Hong Kong (Get the shorts.)

Colors!! So not me, right? Lol. Not black and white this time. Yay. It's time I tried it too! Anyways, why the title? It's due to the banana milk craving my friend and I had. It's something I got to try once in Seoul and my friend wanted to try it too. Fortunately there's a lot of Korean groceries that's opened here in Manila, probably due to the number of Korean's living here.
Banana milk! Yay. But I found it too sweet (left) compared to the one I had; that one was in a plastic container (right). Hmmm. Maybe next time we'll be on the hunt again for it. But we have to find ones in plastic containers. Lol. There's gotta be some here, right?
Outfit post and banana milk. Gotta love this dynamic. Lol.

Where's my music video?
Top: From Seoul, Korea
Pants: From Hong Kong
Envelop bag: From Seoul, Korea (Get the bag.)
My attempt at poking fun at my fascination with the "Hallyu Wave"(Korean Wave), particularly in this outfit. Doesn't it look like what a K-pop star would wear in a music video? No? Okay, my bad. Just trying. Lol. Don't mind me and my geeky thoughts. Anyway, I've been meaning to do a Big Bang related post. A sort of appreciation for those talented individuals, especially now that they're faced with a very sensitive issue. Hoping they'd stay strong and continue to inspire their fans and people around the world. So I guess this is a start. I'm starting with Kang Dae Sung.
With the pants, well, I've only ever seen Dae Sung in jeans or pants or colorful pants, if I remember correctly. But I wanted to add his laidback personality (I would imagine it's his attitude towards his style as well.) and so I chose this to pair with the top.
Photos credit to:supersagi.wordpress, allkpop, koreansound.blogspot
Dae Sung is more known for his bright smile, being funny, and just his overall sincere personality. His style is more that of a typical guy. Simple with a touch of manliness. His looks often have a touch of detail from studs to chains to anything slightly bling-ish (Is that a word?) I decided to take inspiration from that part of his style. I thought the top I have is a perfect way to show off that kind of style that I have always connected to him nowadays. With the pants, well, I've only ever seen Dae Sung in jeans or pants or colorful pants, if I remember correctly. Well, that's my first attempt. We'll see if I can keep it up with the rest of the members. I am just a fangirl at heart. Lol. And I end it with one of their latest releases. Love Song.

Coz when I shop, the world gets better.
Wedges: Millie's
Envelope Bag: From Seoul, Korea
Sheer: From Hong Kong
I do love that quote. Retail therapy anyone? Though my friend does have a point when she said that when the credit card bills come, the world then gets suckier. Lol. Anyways, let's talk about the shorts. Or can it be considered as culotte pants? I usually don't know the "technical terms" of pieces of clothing. I learned about culotte pants just days before. Lol. The flare makes it look like a skirt when in fact it's not. They are hot items these days in Seoul. Check it out here in my site: sevenhalfminutes.blogspot.com. If you love a pop of color!
I think it's usually obvious what my fave items of the moment are based on my posts. My red envelope bag (A blue one is up for sale! Check it out!) and my not so new wedges. I am always inserting links to my site; it's really no easy task to try to get your stuff out there. Any advice? Anyway, the sheer layer I found in Hong Kong. Love it! Love the length too. Though I'd like to find another with a different material and longer length. Reminds me of my obsession with this outfit. Love. Love. I need to find one. Just hope I will not look like I came out of a Matrix movie if I don one.
It suddenly rained when we were taking these shots. Look at the ground. Lol. The sheer fabric is not going to look good when it comes in contact with rain. Good thing it didn't show in the photos. Lol. In other news, my hair grows so fast. Or is it just me? Oh well.
